Understanding your heat pump quotation before you decide

A heat pump quotation is easier to judge when it explains the system as a whole. The headline price matters, but you also need to understand what equipment is proposed, which parts of your existing heating will stay and what work is included.
At Forward Thermal and Flow, we welcome questions about proposed heating work. Taking time to understand a quotation helps you make a decision that suits the property and your plans.
Ask what the proposal is based on
The design should account for the building's heating needs and hot water demand. Ask how these have been assessed and which assumptions have been used. A recommendation based only on bedroom count gives you little explanation of why that system is suitable.
Look beyond the outdoor unit
Check the details of the hot water cylinder, controls, pipework and any radiator changes. Find out whether electrical work, the outdoor base, removal of old equipment and making good are included or priced separately.
If an item is described as provisional, ask what still needs checking and how the final cost will be agreed. Establishing that early helps you compare quotations on the same basis.
Understand the running cost estimate
Expected running costs should state the energy prices and performance assumptions used. Your current heating system, the building and household use all affect the comparison. Treat a prediction as an estimate rather than a fixed future bill.
Discuss handover and future care
Ask how the controls will be explained, what paperwork you will receive and what maintenance the equipment needs. Confirm the warranty terms and which organisation is responsible for any separate elements of the work.
If financial support forms part of the proposal, check eligibility and installer requirements before relying on it. The quotation should make clear what is payable and when, including any conditions attached to funding.
Talk through your requirements
Contact Thermal and Flow with your postcode, current heating details and the changes you are considering. We can discuss your requirements and explain the next steps towards a suitable assessment or quotation.
