Heat pump servicing and what to expect from a visit

A heat pump service is a chance to check the condition and operation of your system and identify anything that needs attention. Knowing what is included makes it easier to book the right visit and keep a useful maintenance record.
Forward Thermal and Flow provides servicing for air source and ground source heat pumps. Our advertised heat pump service includes filters, controls review, performance assessment and glycol testing where applicable to the system.
Follow the requirements for your equipment
Manufacturers commonly recommend an annual service, but the instructions and warranty conditions for your particular model should guide the schedule. If you have recently moved into a property, check when the last service was carried out and whether the records are available.
Confirm what is included
The service needs to suit the make, model and system layout. Depending on the equipment, checks may include its visible condition, operation, accessible pipework, controls and relevant filters. The engineer should follow the manufacturer's maintenance requirements.
If your system has a separate hot water cylinder, mention it when booking. Ask whether a cylinder service is included or needs arranging alongside the heat pump visit. Additional repair work and replacement parts should also be distinguished from the routine service.
Prepare for the appointment
Have the make and model available, along with any service history or installation paperwork. Make sure the engineer can reach the outdoor unit, indoor equipment and controls. Tell us about restricted access before the visit.
Mention changes in noise, comfort, hot water or electricity use, even if the system is still running. If it is displaying a fault or has stopped working, explain this at the booking stage so we can discuss the appropriate appointment.
Arrange your service
Contact Thermal and Flow with your postcode, system details and last service date if known. We can confirm whether we can support the equipment, discuss the scope and arrange the next step.
